Andrea O'Meara, the Community Engagement Manager at KCTS 9 & Crosscut has been working on the Crosscut Festival since its start three years ago. She described the Seattle based event as a "news and ideas festival", taking inspiration from the Texas Tribune Festival.
But Crosscut has its own twist. We wanted to make it "a more festival feel than conference." Crosscut's ultimate goal she said, "We're looking to spark ideas and spark conversations."
We talked about the importance of team debriefs, how getting that first keynote can be a stepping stone for both programming and marketing, and how it feels to be preparing for the third year of their event.
