Marty Maren
TRIO Maryland, President & Co-Founder

Marty received a lifesaving liver transplant in November 2009 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is the Co-Founder of TRIO Maryland and has been the President of the Maryland Chapter from 2012 – 2017 and again in 2019 – present day. Marty received an award in 2019 from TRIO National for his years of transplant patient leadership and support in founding and growing TRIO Maryland.   Marty also served on the TRIO National Board of Directors for 2 years.  Marty has been a speaking ambassador for The Living Legacy Foundation and Donate Life Maryland.  Marty & his wife Michele manage a team in the Living Legacy Fun Run called “Team Miracle”. “Team Miracle” has been a participating team since 2010.  Marty is a member of Team Maryland, a Transplant Athletic Team that represents Maryland and promotes the cause of organ donation. He has been to the last 4 US Transplant Games and to 2 World Transplant Games. Marty has been a volunteer at Johns Hopkins Hospital Comprehensive Transplant Center for the last 9 years. Marty is currently a mentor for transplant recipients and helped launch a walking program called “Stepping Out” for transplant patients.

Marty & Michele have been married 22 years and enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. Marty retired in 2013 and enjoys managing a nonprofit organization to benefit transplant recipients and their families.

Michelle Morrison, RN, MSN
The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Nurse Manager

Michelle Morrison is the Nurse Manager for the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Department at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH).  She has worked at JHH for 12 incredible years.  She is very passionate about educating potential transplant recipients and their families to ensure the best possible outcomes after transplant!  Michelle's ultimate goal in her career is to touch the lives of each and every patient that she encounters and to make them feel comfortable and at ease during an incredibly vulnerable time in their life.
