Abuchi Peter Ugwu
Chocolate City, Chief Executive Officer

Mr Abuchi Peter Ugwu is the Chief Executive Officer at the iconic Nigerian record label, Chocolate City. He is a respected professional in the Nigerian and African music industry as well as the wider creative sector. In addition to this, Mr Ugwu is an accomplished marketer and executive. 

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in  Entrepreneurial & Business Management from the National Open University of Nigeria, and got his start in the music industry in 2008, working as an engineer and producer on a number of Chocolate City projects. He went on to manage one of Africa’s most prominent music acts M.I. Abaga spanning over a decade. 

While doing this, he has worn several hats of leadership including, Head of Business Development in 2015 & Chief  Operating Officer from 2019 to 2021 at Chocolate City Music. 

In 2019, Mr Abuchi was appointed Vice President for Bean Creative Agency, a talent management and digital marketing agency based out of Lagos, Nigeria where he has championed many campaigns and worked with several brands.

In April 2021, he was announced as the Chief Executive Officer at Chocolate City and is tasked with steering the direction of the label as it champions innovative music out of Nigeria and Africa. 



Daniel Owolabi
Sony Music Africa, Label Manager

Daniel Owolabi holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Financial Management & Accounting from Bells University. His passion for music however had been nursed since his childhood years when he performed as a drummer, flutist and chorister. This passion ultimately activated a career switch from a top consultancy company, PwC where he served on the financial advisory team into the business & management division of the music industry.

Daniel’s drive is to keep making contributions and influence impactful changes that will provide opportunities for voices from all over Africa to be taken to the global stage. This drive is exemplified in his role as Label Manager at Sony where he oversees the working portfolios of artistes including Davido, Mayorkun, Sarz, Dice Ailes, Gyakie, T-Classic and Kiddominant.


Daniel also holds a certificate in Music Business Foundations from the Berklee College of Music.

Nissi Ogulu
Animation Director

Nissi Ogulu is the Founder and Managing Director of Creele Animation Studios; an international family entertainment company.
She is an entrepreneur, fine artist, musician, songwriter and digital artist. Trained as a design and mechanical engineer, she is also an Innovation Lead Programme Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) UK, which she joined in 2016 as a graduate engineer and was promoted to be the youngest Lead Engineer in the company by 2018. 

Nissi was born in 1994 to Bose Ogulu a renowned media/entertainment executive & Samuel Ogulu. She is grand-daughter to award-winning music critic, author, veteran broadcaster and first manager to the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, “Benson Idonije”. She is also the youngest sister to Grammy award winning music superstar, Burna-Boy. Nissi is a staunch cultural advocate for the arts and its impact on the media, entertainment and technology industry especially in Africa. 

She shows her strong determination to influence the educational system’s advancement by being a female spokesperson and youth panellist in various African Arts & Leadership Societies. Nissi graduated from the University of Warwick in the UK, with a Bachelor’s (honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng), and Distinction Post-graduate Accreditations in sustainable design and Innovation technology from reputable universities, Loughborough & Warwick.

Different technologies have deeply impacted the creative industry. For instance, the increasing popularity of streaming platforms such as Netflix, Paramount+, Soundcloud, BET+, Amazon Prime, DIsney plus and so much more has in turn greatly influenced streaming culture in Africa, with over 5 million people subscribed to these services, the creative industry is as a result affected.

Streaming services have been really impactful for creatives, with these platforms fighting for inclusion and diversity as a way to draw large audiences, creatives are being presented with more opportunities to have their craft disseminated to a global audience. Although this poses good things for some creatives, it might not be the same for others who are still subscribed to traditional channels.

Our panelists will discuss the impact of Innovative Technologies on Africa’s Creative Industry, giving practical examples of different scenarios where innovative technology solutions such as streaming platforms, cinemas, augmented reality, virtual reality and others are shaping the creative sector.
Attendees will also learn about key steps ViacomCBS Networks Africa is taking to improve the creative space in Africa -- striving for creative excellence and cultural impact across programming, motion pictures, and digital experiences that live online, on mobile, and across multiple platforms.  
For the concluding part, our panel will share meaningful steps and practical solutions that creatives across Africa can employ to help them better leverage the available Tech solutions of 2022 and beyond.
