Fred Davis, Vice President pro-tem of Jewish Climate Action Network, JCAN-MA. In the forefront of ramping up decarbonization through community organizing. Helping JCAN move hundreds of Jewish communities through decarbonization, with innovative programming for both congregations and their congregants.
Long-term clean energy leader, as professional and as advocate, in multifamily, municipal, commercial, residential, community sectors, in New England, New York, and beyond. From 1983 to today, Fred has been a leader in energy-efficient lighting; helping introduce the world to compact fluorescents, electronic ballasts, and currently, LED streetlights. He Chaired the first National Conference in Energy And Lighting, helped devise the first national lamp efficiency standards, and charted the efficient and responsible path through the chaotic decade of the LED revolution. Held leadership in: NESEA, IESNA, USEA, JCRC, JGSGB. Proud recipient of: 2019 NESEA Distinguished Service Award. Fellow in Hebrew College Leaders in Adult Learning.
Jessica is the Vice Chair of the Board of Hazon. She is Executive Director of 21 in '21, building political power for women in NYC. She recently was a candidate for NYC Council on a climate, resilience and equity platform. She has an M.P.A. in environmental science and policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a B.S. in economics and information management from the Wharton School of Business. She is a Climate Leader with The Climate Reality Project.
Jessica was the Chair of the Hazon Seal in its founding.
Jessica lives in Riverdale, NY with her husband, Chad, and children Leila, Avery, Chloe, and Mattie.
Joelle Novey is the director of Interfaith Power & Light (ipldmv.org), which works with hundreds of congregations of many traditions across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia to save energy, go green, and respond to climate change, and serves on the advisory board of Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action (dayenu.org). Joelle lives with her family in the DC metro area and davens at Minyan Segulah.
Adam Berman founded Urban Adamah, a Jewish community farm and environmental education center in Berkeley, CA, and served as its first Executive Director from 2010 - 2019. Prior to that he served as the Executive Director of the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center (2002 - 2009), where he also founded and served as the first director of the Adamah Fellowship. From 1996 - 1999, he served as an educator at the Teva Learning Center and subsequently became its Director. Adam currently runs a non-profit consulting practice, leveraging his experience in the JOFEE world to support other organizations seeking to maximize their impact. His focus areas include organizational development and culture, pedagogy, greening of physical infrastructure, Jewish Environmental education, fundraising and Nonviolent Communication (NVC). He’s delighted to serve in a part-time role as Hazon’s Chief Strategy Office. He has an undergraduate degree from Brown University in Environmental Policy and an MBA from the Haas Business School at UC Berkeley. .He currently lives in Berkeley, CA, with his wife Deena Aranoff and two children, Shira (9) and Maya (6).
Roger is a Northern Californian native who grew up in Saratoga. He is currently in his second and final year as President of Peninsula Temple Beth El. Prior to serving on the PTBE board, Roger spent 6 years on the board of the Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School where he served first as VP of Strategic Planning, then as President. By day he works for Oracle running the Oracle Marketing Cloud alliance team and offers business consulting for a soundtrack record label based in Oakland.
