Nicholas Huminski
High Falls Hemp NY, Business Development & Farming

Born and raised in NYC Nicholas become fascinated with the Cannabis Sativa L crop breaking it down to the molecule and beyond! For the past six years, he has been independently studying every aspect of this crop from phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids down to horticulture tactics and extraction methods. His journey has taken him to become an Operational manager in the New York state Medical Cannabis Program in Manhattan, NY which inspired him to look north to the Hudson Valley region to work hands on with local Industrial Hemp farms where he then joined High Falls Hemp NY to aim to become the best New York based hemp farm and CBD products on the market.

Throughout his time within the industry, he has studied book after book regarding Cannabis/Hemp with so much more to learn! This led him to take a 200-hour certification course from Cannabis Training University based out of Denver Colorado where he has successfully obtained his Master of Cannabis certificate of completion. This course has given him insight on different Horticulture tactics, formulations, extraction, and even sales within the Hemp/Cannabis industry. During his time in the New York MMJ industry, he was given the opportunity to work along-side accredited and licensed pharmacists to help better understand what consumers need from all walks of life within the Tri-state and national community. Connecting and working with a fantastic and local based team at High Falls Hemp NY has allowed him to show the true potential New York states industrial hemp program has to offer.

In 2014, changes in US laws opened the door for research and development of industrial hemp, and within a few years, many states had launched pilot programs. Those were followed by the 2018 Farm Bill which relabeled hemp an agricultural product and not a controlled substance. The new label was all industry leaders needed to start building a domestic supply chain for the natural fiber. The discussion will highlight the current status of hemp in the US, its future outlook, and a call for collaboration in building a domestic sustainable supply chain.
