Jonathan R. Tijerina is the Senior Director of  Business & Economic Development  for CPS Energy, the largest municipally owned, vertically integrated electric & natural gas company in the nation. 

Jonathan is responsible for overseeing clean energy technologies and bringing economic development opportunities to San Antonio and CPS Energy. He is currently evaluating various smart city initiatives for CPS Energy including smart street lighting, water AMI and other IOT technologies.

A nine-year veteran of the utility, Jonathan has held positions with increased responsibility in Governmental Relations & Public Policy, Corporate Communications, and two stints in the Office of the President, including serving as Chief of Staff. 

Jonathan is an alumnus of the Harvard Youth American Leadership Program and in 2019 was recognized by San Antonio’s Public Relations Society of America as a Public Relations Champion.  In addition to his role at CPS Energy, Jonathan serves on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross San Antonio chapter.  He is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. 

Jonathan is married with two children.
