Presentation: Mark de Clive Lowe Performance Practice

Composer, jazz musician, remixer and electronic music producer, Mark de Clive-Lowe will be presenting a breakdown of his performance setup, including Native Instruments’ Maschine, sampling, and live effects processing, and speaking about his performance practices. Mark brings an incredible amount of musicianship, virtuosity and dexterity to EDI’s and integrates them seamlessly into his solo and ensemble performances.

Electronic jazz pioneer and pianist Mark de Clive-Lowe blends acoustic, electronic and world music exploring themes of belonging and identity. Mark’s virtuosity on his musical instruments, from piano to Native Instrument’s Maschine is unparalleled. In a quote from Jazziz, “ Way before jazz hybridity became a worldwide phenomenon, de Clive-Lowe was busy designing its blueprint.” Don’t miss this opportunity to see an incredible musician incorporating digital instruments into a musically intricate and fluid set.

Val Jeanty, also known as Val-Inc, is a Haitian electronic music composer, turntablist, drummer, and professor at Berklee College of Music who evokes the musical esoteric realms of the creative subconscious self-defined as “Afro-Electronica.” A quote from Big Ears Festivals describes it best, “Jeanty plays ancient Haitian vodou rhythms through experimental electronic music’s modern apparatus of samplers, laptop filters, and digital pads, building propulsive but ethereal beats that hang like sinuous sculptures in the air.”

Val’s intricate and refined sense of rhythm and musical flow is refreshing and unique and nothing less than awe inspiring.
