How Disability is an Asset to Entrepreneurship: Panel Discussion

People with disabilities are innate entrepreneurs. In fact, the Office of Disability Employment Policy at the Department of Labor reports that people with disabilities are twice more likely to pursue entrepreneurship compared to the non-disabled population. From the moment we wake up, get dressed, drive, communicate, and live our live, we as disabled people, have to adapt to a world that's not build to fit our needs. Yet most entrepreneurship resources and ecosystems are not accessible or inclusive for those with disabilities. During this session we will discuss some of the main barriers disabled people face when pursuing entrepreneurship and hear how entrepreneurs have utilized their disability as an asset for their entrepreneurship journey, business and venture.

Mixed Reality with HoloLens

Discover a new world of mixed reality with Microsoft HoloLens, the world’s first enterprise-ready standalone headset computer that allows you to interact with virtual objects in the real world. The transparent visor allows a user to walk around freely while using visual gaze, hand gestures, and voice commands. Learn about how your startup can benefit from this emerging technology that includes built-in spatial sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a custom holographic chip.

HoloLens actually uses a technology called “Mixed Reality” which allows a user to place virtual objects in the real world while recognizing and interacting with real-world objects. As a result, it goes beyond traditional “Virtual Reality” which is restricted to a virtual world only. The speaker would be happy to schedule follow-up office hours with anyone who wants to try it out at a later time.
