Jenny Laird is a research biologist at the US Army Corps of Engineers- Engineer Research and Development Center, Environmental Lab (EL), Environmental Systems Branch (Remote Sensing). She is currently the ERDC UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), Program Manager, ATPM (Aircrew Training Program Manager) and EL UAS Lead, providing coordination and operational assistance for current Military and Civil research projects. Since 2016, Mrs. Laird has led efforts to coordinate all UAS activities for the ERDC in the seven laboratories across the US. The Remote Sensing UAS Team is equipped with 5 UAS platforms that can carry a variety of sensors for aerial imagery for environmental characterization; FLIR Tau II (thermal imagery), RGB (SfM Orthomosaics, contour generation), LiDAR (light detection and ranging), HSI (hyperspectral imaging), and RedEdge MicaSense (NDVI [normal difference vegetation index] and 5 band multispectral). Along with current R&D efforts in the Corps she also serves as one of the technical management leads for the USACE Headquarters Aviation and Remote Systems.
