Ben Homer
Kessel Run, Industry Engagement Lead

Ben Homer has worked at the intersection of media and technology for more than a decade. In his current role at Kessel Run, he manages industry and government partnerships. He provides operations leadership to accelerate the use of agile methodology and DevSecOps within the Department of Defense.

Prior to this Ben led IPA | switxboard, an NGO, which leveraged disruptive technology and non-traditional resources to address humanitarian challenges in fragile states, and served on the senior leadership team at Livestream.com (acquired by Vimeo(IAC) in 2016). His technology leadership experience includes roles with Sportsrocket, BAMTech, CBS Interactive. Ben holds an MA in International Affairs from the New School where his research focused on the role of media and technology in political change in the Middle East.

Davis Gunter
United States Air Force, Chief of Platform, Kobayashi Maru

Capt Davis Gunter is the Chief of Platform for Kobayashi Maru, and the lead for Section 31, at Space Systems Command, Los Angeles, CA. In this position he is responsible for co-leading an organization of 130 personnel leading the USSF’s organic software factory and digital transformation project. Currently, Capt Gunter oversees and manages 6 teams building, managing and operating 20 applications across 4 classification boundaries delivering capabilities to the USSF’s Combined Space Operations Center and partners around the world. He has transformed software delivery in the Space Force by creating a strong culture that incorporates best practices in agile software development and DevSecOps.

Capt Gunter was commissioned through the United States Air Force Academy, class of 2015. Prior to his current assignment in Los Angeles he was the Platform Lead at the United States Air Force ‘s Kessel Run in Boston, Massachusetts. As the Platform Lead he helped deliver the systems that propel Kessel Run today around the world.

In October Capt Gunter will be PCS’ing to the National Reconnaissance Office at Aerospace Data Facility- Colorado.

Jason Zuniga
Army Software Factory, Co-director

Jason is a Major in the United States Army serving as the Co-Director of the Army’s first Soldier-led Software Factory in Austin, TX.  He is a recognized leader serving with distinction as an aviation officer on the front lines of Iraq and as part of the first rotational forces to Korea.  Jason most recently stood up the Army’s first venture capital (VC) Training with Industry (TWI) fellowship at Founders Fund in San Francisco.  He also served at the Pentagon as a senior program analyst and instructor for the “How the Army Runs” course.   Jason’s academic record includes receiving his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy and MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also worked with several start-up companies and served as a non-profit board fellow. He resides in Austin with his wife Gabrielle, an Air Force Officer and ROTC Instructor, and their Siberian husky where they enjoy outdoor activities and volunteer service opportunities in support of Veterans.

Christina is an experienced Account Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry. Christina sells the world's leading provider of open source software solutions, covering the Army in the Federal Sector.


Wade Johnston
Klas Government, Director of Innovation

COL(R) Wade Johnston joined the Klas Government team as the Director of Innovation upon retiring from the U. S. Army in October 2020, after 27 years of service. The Iowa native received his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of South Dakota in 1993 and served in a variety of assignments. He held command positions in the 75th Ranger Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, multiple Special Mission Units (SMU) and the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). He served on the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) J6 and HQDA CIO/G6 staffs. In his last assignment he was the first CIO/G6 for Army Futures Command (AFC) in Austin, TX.



The DoD acquisition enterprise can be challenging to navigate. Software intensive efforts in the Air Force, Army, and Navy are leveraging commercial technologies and agile methodology to more rapidly deliver new capabilities to the warfighter. 

This panel will include speakers from the Air Force's Kessel Run, Army Software Factory, and Navy Black Pearl software practice for a discussion of how each approaches innovation and engagement with industry. Join us to gain insights into key focus areas and recommendations for successful collaboration between government and Industry.
