From Lox to Latkes: How Food Shapes Our Cultural and Religious Identity

Zoom 23

Ordained in 2018 at HUC-JIR in Los Angeles, Rabbi Daniel Sher serves as the Youth and Family Rabbi at Kehillat Israel in the Pacific Palisades, CA. There he works with families of all ages, ranging from preschool through 20s and 30s, among other rabbinic responsibilities.

If you come from a different religious/cultural background than your partner, you likely grew up eating different foods, at least for special occasions – let’s dig in to this fruitful topic! Join 18Doors Rukin Rabbinic Fellow Daniel Sher for a discussion of religion, culture and food. We’ll contemplate the significance of family foods that we loved growing up, rituals and traditions around eating, and rules relating to what we can and can’t eat. This program is intended for people in interfaith relationships, but all are welcome.
