Mark Rubin and Ben Schenck both play with the Panorama Jazz Band, New Orleans' go-to for traditional Yiddish music. Together they have played many many Jewish weddings, b'nai mitzvot, Mardi Gras parades, parties and festivals. After hurricane Katrina, when Ben and his very pregnant wife were sleeping on a floor in Baton Rouge, it was Mark who organized support from his Austin, TX synagogue and texted Ben, "just come, we have everything you need." Their son was born there.
