2. The Art of Saying No – Essential Time Management Skills 

Lavinia Kolarcyk, MD, FASE

Cardiac anesthesiologists face a number of claims on their time, including clinical work, administrative responsibilities, and familial obligations. Effective time management is key to success. This lecture will provide helpful tips for the busy cardiac anesthesiologist to navigate his or her time, including goal setting, goal alignment, and “inbox” management. Lastly, this lecture will discuss the importance of the artful declination of tasks that do not align with personal goals. 

 

3. How to Deliver a Mind-blowing Presentation

What does it take to give a mind-blowing presentation? Whether attendees are in academic or private practice, speeches and presentations are a daily part of work life and are integral to continued success. This lecture will discuss innovative strategies to deliver a memorable presentation and the “do’s and don’ts” of being on stage.

 

4. How to Promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in your Practice

Promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion is essential for future leaders. In this talk, attendees will learn how to contribute to the promotion of an equitable and diverse workforce.

Networking 101 – how to perfect your “elevator pitch”

Networking is a crucial component of career advancement. Prior to the session, attendees will draft an “elevator pitch”, which will be perfected during this practical session. Attendees will also practice essential networking skills. 

 

Negotiating tips

This breakout session will focus on negotiation tips from experts in both private practice and academics. Attendees should have an idea about a future need or want and will have the opportunity to review negotiation techniques to achieve the desired result.
