Greg Cook is the Executive Director of Market and Infrastructure Policy at the California ISO.   In this position, Mr. Cook leads the department responsible for the design and evolution of the CAISO’s day-ahead and real-time markets as well as resource adequacy, distributed energy resources, and generator interconnection policies.  Prior to taking on his current duties, Mr. Cook managed the CAISO’s Market Monitoring department and was responsible for monitoring and reporting on the CAISO’s Ancillary Service, Congestion Management, and Real-time Energy market behavior and rules, and the development of market monitoring indicators and measures to detect market participant behavior detrimental to the market.   He has been with the California ISO since 2000.

Prior to joining the California ISO, Mr. Cook was a Policy Advisor to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada where he advised Commissioners on economic principles related to the development of competitive energy markets.  Mr. Cook started his career performing economic analysis for Montana Dakota Utilities where he analyzed competitive electric market risks and opportunities in the electric and natural gas markets.

Mr. Cook received an MBA concentrated in Regulatory Economics from New Mexico State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University.  He has over twenty years of experience in the electric industry working extensively in the area of competitive wholesale electric markets.
