LaToya is the head of Story Development and Content for RFTP and a founding partner. An active resident in Minneapolis’ Northside community, LaToya is passionate about shifting the power of narrative for communities like hers, structural change centering equity and inclusion, and developing young leaders. When she is not curating content and facilitating RFTP events, LaToya is working with students at Augsburg University, developing leadership skills with a culturally competent lens and learning how to engage in everyday democracy.
The pandemic has accelerated the evolution of human interaction and information consumption towards digital platforms. Now add a global social justice movement. What challenges and opportunities can emerging technology bring to bear in the fight for a more just world?
Both RFTP and REM5 are rooted in leveraging technology and data to reimagine diversity, equity and inclusion education. In this session, we will cover how RFTP is creating authentic experiences that allow people from different perspectives to better connect with each other, how REM5 is using high-end virtual reality to democratize learning experiences, and how the two organizations are collaborating to create cutting-edge, digital learning experiences. This session will include a short presentation with Q&A, social time (including hosted food and beer/wine) and VR demos.
