Dot’s nursing career has spanned two generations, with most of her time focused on wound care. She has been Board Certified by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Certification Board since 1985 (CWON) and The American Board of Wound Management since 2004 (CWS). She has helped to train and educate many WOCN nurses.

Dot has practiced in acute care, home care, and long-term care, spent 7 years working in industry, and has practiced in outpatient care since 2001.

She is the co-chair of the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC). She is also the founding editor of the publication, Today’s Wound Clinic Journal.

After a long career in the Orlando, Florida area, she relocated to the New York area in 2017 and is in practice at the Saratoga Hospital Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.

The evolution of negative pressure wound therapy has provided clinicians with numerous options in the treatment of their patients. During this presentation, Dot Weir will review recent study data comparing the costs of traditional negative pressure wound therapy and share how she uses portable and disposable negative pressure in her practice.
