Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Across the Wound Management Spectrum: A Case-Based Series

Dr. Robert Snyder is Interim Dean, Professor, and Director of Clinical Research and Fellowship Director in Wound Care and Research at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. He has created and implemented the first post residency Wound Management and Research Fellowship for podiatric medical schools. He is certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is also a board-certified wound specialist. Dr Snyder is past-president of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care and past-president of the American Board of Wound Management, a certifying body for wound care specialists. In addition to his doctorate, he holds an MSc in Wound Healing and Tissue Science from Cardiff University College of Medicine. His expertise in Cardiff, Wales, was further acknowledged with an appointment as Honorary Visiting Professor. To constantly expand his knowledge and stay current in all aspects of health care, he has completed an MBA in Health Management. Dr. Snyder is a key opinion leader and a sought-after speaker, lecturing extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Dr. Snyder has published several book chapters and over 165 papers in peer-reviewed and trade journals on wound care and was the recipient of the Dr. Robert Warriner Memorial Award for excellence in wound management. Dr. Snyder serves as the Associate Editor of JAPMA and is on the editorial advisory boards of Ostomy Wound Management and Wounds and as a periodic reviewer for the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has been a principal investigator on more than 65 randomized controlled trials for innovative wound healing modalities and products. In 2018, Dr. Snyder was inducted into the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as Faculty Fellow in Podiatric Medicine.

Dot’s nursing career has spanned two generations, with most of her time focused on wound care. She has been Board Certified by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Certification Board since 1985 (CWON) and The American Board of Wound Management since 2004 (CWS). She has helped to train and educate many WOCN nurses.

Dot has practiced in acute care, home care, and long-term care, spent 7 years working in industry, and has practiced in outpatient care since 2001.

She is the co-chair of the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC). She is also the founding editor of the publication, Today’s Wound Clinic Journal.

After a long career in the Orlando, Florida area, she relocated to the New York area in 2017 and is in practice at the Saratoga Hospital Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.
