According to data from the World Health Organization, lower extremity complications of diabetes are a top 10 contributor to the disability burden worldwide. Evidence suggests that adhering to evidence-based guidelines can significantly reduce the incidence of diabetes-related lower extremity complications. This session will illustrate the importance of prompt and appropriate evidence-based management of diabetic foot ulcers, including local wound care, use of mechanical offloading, treatment of infection and indications for revascularization.
